March 27 Looking Back over 15 years of TechEdCheck out the tracks from the conference guide from TechEd 94. When we were sorting through all the materials from past TechEds we found ourselves having a chuckle looking at what were the 'hot' technologies in 94...Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I will be posting more from what we find in the vault so stay tuned! Monica W. Technical Content Owner 2nd March 26 Tech•Ed 2007 WebsiteThe Tech•Ed website has been live exactly 2 months today and registration is going strong. As communications manager, I own making sure the site is up-to-date with all the latest news and highlights so you, the customer, are always informed. Recently we highlighted that the Tech•Ed Keynote, Bob Muglia, was just announced and we’re working on getting all of the details finalized for the Attendee Party on Thursday, June 7th. Everyone is anxious to hear where our fun night of festivities will be hosted – so stay tuned!
I also work with our creative agency to build the site, which we start planning back in early November. It’s an interesting process to make sure we organize the information so it makes the most sense to our customers. And gathering all of the copy for each section is the best part as we have many stakeholders who contribute their expertise to the development of the pages. When we hit the switch in mid-January and the site finally went live – that was a great feeling! I look forward to bringing you updates each week so please check back often as the Tech•Ed site is constantly changing and growing.
Giselle V., Communications Manager and Website Owner March 22 The building of the Expo! The past couple of weeks, we’ve been working at selling sponsorships, getting the TechEd website up to reflect the sponsors, reviewing the floor plan and working with the internal Microsoft teams and their partner programs. I really enjoy this role as I get to wear a partner “hat” and think like a partner. I find myself in meetings wondering if I were a partner……what would I want to see Microsoft do? How can Microsoft provide more value to partners attending TechEd? The partners bring so much to this event - they are such a big component and we do everything we can to make sure they have a wonderful experience. Julie L. Partner Integration March 20 What's happening in the TLC??Extended - Birds-of-a-Feather Hurry! Don’t miss your chance to submit and vote on Birds-of-a-Feather sessions for Tech·Ed. The deadline has been extended until April 6th. Anyone willing to moderate a session is encouraged to submit a topic. Topics are then voted on by you, and then the top vote getters turn into Birds-of-a-Feather sessions. Creating a great Women in Tech event – HELP! One of my responsibilities as a member of the Tech·Ed team is to come up with an innovative and fun Women in Technology event. Love to get input from our fantastic women attendees! We’re looking at the topic of getting young women involved in technology. Have ideas for speakers? I would love to hear about any outstanding women you have heard speak, or you think are inspirational, that you think would be a great addition to Tech·Ed. Can you share any “icebreakers” – ways to get people meeting each other and talking – that you have done at similar events to this that you thought were really effective and fun? Technical Learning Center – Staff will be ready Thanks to all who submitted their names and offered to help in the TLC as technology experts. The Track Owners are reviewing submissions this week and selections will happen next week. The Microsoft staff is gearing up, too. There will be close to 1,000 experts in the TLC ready to share product information, talk solutions, discuss deployment, and more. Bring your biggest challenges to Tech·Ed and find an expert to help. Susan L. TLC and Community Lead March 19 Building ContentFor anyone who has reviewed the TechEd website you will see we are getting closer and closer to a complete session list for the event. The track owners have been working with their Product Groups and subject experts driving their strategy in order to bring the most compelling and useful information. It has been interesting watching this process because there are so many people involved with the decisions as well as all of the exciting new topics for TechEd 2007. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into selecting titles and abstracts that will give a clear picture of what you will learn during a breakout session or hands-on lab. Monica W.
